What does Genre Genie make?
Genre Genie creates text-based musical briefs, style prompts, exclusions and production directions. It does not generate audio or write new lyrics.
Do I need an account or API key?
No account is needed. The genre-matching tools run locally. For optional AI features, add your own Anthropic, OpenAI or OpenRouter API key when you open the builder.
Where do my drafts and API keys go?
Your drafts and usage records are held in your browser. Your API key stays in browser memory unless you choose to remember it locally. If remembered, it is encrypted in browser storage. AI prompts go directly from your browser to the provider you select.
Can I copy artists and songs into a Suno style prompt?
Genre Genie suggests recordings for study and inspiration, then translates selected production elements into descriptive language. Song and artist references are not intended for copying protected audio or lyrics.
